The PM an atheist?

So was I the only one that was (pleasantly) suprised to learn that Julia Gillard is an atheist?  I was much more impressed by that fact than the fact that she was the first female PM of Oz.  But then it struck me, was it under her watch as Minister for Education that Queensland education has introduced Creationism into the curriculum?  Also allowing his (arse)holyness bishop Glen Davies to push people around with the NSW ethics classes trial in June?

As an atheist, should she not be a bit more concerned over such events?  Is she doing what the majority wants her to do?  Or is the majority (us atheists) not speaking up loudly enough to be heard?

Does anyone have any ideas or opinions on how atheists could be mobilised to unite and to start speaking up to drown out the supersticious masses?
